Today I am working on managing my thoughts. Regardless of what I see happening around me, I have to be able to keep my mind on things above. I’ve been encouraged many times to work on speaking things as though they were. This can be difficult for me since I tend to be very “technical” when discussing a current struggle or tough situation. However, I’m seeing that in order to control what I say about my circumstance, my thoughts must also be under control. Any time a negative thought arises, even it’s 12 times within the hour, I have to take that thought captive. (2 Cor 10:5) Then I have to fill that thought space with “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable…” (Phil 4:8-9).
